Context
The travel industry is a highly competitive environment where it is crucial to always have up-to-date information on ticket prices. With rapid market changes and volatile prices, ticket sellers must constantly react and adapt their offer. The client we worked with faced similar challenges. They needed an efficient system that would allow them to regularly monitor ticket prices on key routes and provide them with data to make quick and strategic decisions.
Our goal was to create a fully automated solution that would not only monitor prices, but also provide clear reports and save the client dozens of hours of manual work each month.
The Goal
The client had specific requirements that were clearly defined:
- Daily ticket price monitoring – focus on flights over the next 31 days.
- Price focus – only prices without baggage surcharges, including both traditional and low-cost airlines.
- Regular Updates – Automatically run the scraping process 2 to 3 times a day to ensure maximum data currency.
- Automatic report generation – clear Excel files with data converted into Czech crowns (CZK) and summary weekly reports.
The client needed a solution that was not only fast and reliable, but also easily scalable for possible expansion to other routes and data sources.
Solution
Based on the client’s requirements, we designed and implemented a complex system including the following steps:
- Identification of data sources
- We chose Skyscanner and Kiwi.com as our main data sources, which offer a wide range of flight connections and prices.
- We have adapted our scraping tools to efficiently collect data from both portals, including relevant parameters such as prices without baggage surcharges.
- Scraper automation
- We have developed our own web scraping tools that automatically run 2 to 3 times a day.
- The process has been optimized for reliability and efficiency.
- Generating reports
- Each time a scraping cycle is completed, the data is automatically processed into clear Excel files.
- The reports include detailed summaries for individual routes as well as a summary “master” report.
- All data is automatically converted into Czech crowns (CZK) according to the current exchange rate.
- Data delivery
- The client has access to a shared repository where reports are regularly updated and ready for download.
- Weekly summaries provide a comprehensive overview and facilitate analysis of long-term trends.
Results
1. Quick implementation
Within one week we deployed a functional system that provides the client with up-to-date ticket price data 2-3 times a day. 2. Saving time and resources
Thanks to automation, the client saved tens of hours of manual work per month. They gained a reliable tool that eliminates the risk of errors associated with manual data collection. 3. The ability to react quickly to changes
The system allows the client to react quickly to price changes and optimize its offer to end customers. 4. Extension of cooperation
The quality and reliability of our solution led to the extension of the project to other routes and the inclusion of additional data sources.
What does the client say?
“Thanks to AW Data Scraping, we have a reliable solution that allows us to track ticket prices in real time. The speed of deployment and the quality of the data exceeded our expectations. We look forward to further cooperation!”
